Yes, you read that correctly. THIRTEEN days of October. I did not transpose my numbers (I DO know that there are, in fact, 31 days in October).
Why 13 you ask?
Well, this was the favorite book of the month in our house.
Ammely wanted to read it again and again and again and again and again.
Probably because we sang it to her.
You know, in the fashion of "The 12 Days of Christmas."
So in honor of this great literary work and in honor of the month I present to you (in no particular order and not actually correlating to any specific day of the month)
THE 13 DAYS OF OCTOBER
Baysinger style.
You must sing this post as you go along.
C'mmmoooonnn...it'll be fun!
On the first day of October, my mummy gave to me...
Sweetness to my soul and body!
General Conference!
This means we get a WHOLE weekend of continual spiritual feasting as the Lord's prophets speak to us.
It also means a bit of literal feasting - in our family we always start the first session of conference with donuts and chocolate milk.
PLUS we get to spend some sessions with extended family. Doesn't get sweeter than that!

On the 2nd day of October my mummy gave to me..
TWO birthday folks
and sweetness to my soul and body.
Okay it was really three. Or kinda four. But I only have pictures of the two birthday folks celebrating. That's right! It was Aunt Tamzon and Samuel's birthdays (on the 5th and the 12th). We all celebrated between sessions of Conference. :) And it was Grandpa Baysinger's birthday on the 18th (for which I have no pictures but he happens to be in Aunt Tamzon and Samuel's picture - so that counts, right?).
I feel like I should also mention that next year this event will have to be the fourth day of October because Amber had her little boy! Little Reid now shares Aunt Tamzon's birthday on the 5th and makes for the FOURTH person with an October birthday. Yahoo!

Yes. Following Conference we started Potty Training. Easily the longest lasting trial of my motherhood so far. We are not done. We may never be done.

Ammon and I went on a real date! Trust me. This is worth documenting. Did you know that it's real difficult to go on real dates when you have children? It is. So after several months, we finally got a few hours to ourselves (thank you Jenn!). We started with some DELICIOUS Mexican food at Moreno's.
We then went shopping for pumpkins in an effort to make this:

| This is the back cover of Ammely's favorite Halloween -it had a big influence on us! |
And lastly we went home and actually attempted it - turned out to be lots of fun!

We hit up the Fall Festival at Vertuccio Farms with Tamzon, JT, Rori and Robert! It ended up being loads of fun and the only thing we were left wishing for was the rest of the cousin folk...and maybe daylight.

Chris and Lisa invited us to go with them to the Zoo's Howl-O-Ween celebration.
We enjoyed the trick-or-treating.
We also enjoyed a super great magic show. No pictures to prove it though.
Also, I'm not sure how I managed to get away without ANY pictures of Chris and Lisa's little guy - you'll just have to take my word that he is seriously adorable. Truly. A more adorable batman has never existed.
Mostly though, we just enjoyed catching up with great friends. So glad we made it (even if we were an hour late! Sorry!)!
On the 9th day of October my mummy gave to me...

The Halloween season would not be complete without Boyd and Amber's Halloween party. It's always a fun time -everyone is decked out in costumes and their house is decorated and festive. The food is extra yummy and themed too. There is always something a little different or unique to that year too - so that keeps ya coming back! This year Aunt Amber had fun crafts for the kiddos - super cute kitty cats. Plus fun, twisting sippy straw cups to take home!
And everyone had the chance to kick up their heels and dance along like professional music video dancers. SO much fun - to watch or do!
Plus, this party is the reason Ammon and I attempt costumes at all. This year we tried to go as Lucy and Ricky...in black and white...
It was harder to pull off than we thought. But if you just add a little black and white filter then there you go - we nailed it! ;)

The actual holiday finally came and so I helped my girls into their costumes and then forced them outside for pictures.
Ammely made the most adorable Tinkerbell possibly ever. She loved her costume too and was only mildly disappointed that her wings would not actually make her fly.
It was the big, cushy bottom that sealed the deal for her getting this costume. Is it not just too much?
After pictures and soup at Grandma and Grandpa Lords, the girls headed out with Kailey, Charis and Aunt Tammy for some trick-or-treating. SO grateful that they let Ammely go along and slow them down...she adored every moment with them.
AND she got quite a haul for such a little girl.
On the 11th day of October my mummy gave to me...

Sadly, I have no picture documentation of this event. What was I thinking?! I wasn't. Clearly I wasn't.
But it lived up to our expectations every bit.
Food to die for.
Halloween treats that would make Pinterest proud.
A Halloween flick for all to enjoy.
And of course...the root beer. Endless options of exotic root beers.
Sigh. Can we do Oktoberfest again tomorrow? Please?!

October is was the one year anniversary of starting to plant things in our backyard. Over the past year we have added one navel orange tree, one desert gold peach tree, one plum tree, one almond tree, two mesquite trees, two sissoo trees, three grapevines, two blackberry bushes, and two blueberry bushes. But we aren't done.
Say hello to our latest addition - the orange hibiscus. We love to watch its beautiful flowers bloom and fall so quickly.

After many months (maybe years?) of having my Pebble Gray paint sample taped to the wall in our downstairs bathroom, I FINALLY got motivated to actually paint it.
And now our downstairs is painting complete. Unless you count the garage. Don't count the garage. Let me have this one.
